Pink Patchwork

Good afternoon all I have just finished this gorgeous pink patchwork blanket. Its backed with bamboo and organic cotton fleece for a soo soft and cozy feel. The blanket is also a great size and is suitable for a baby right through to toddler size and beyond. I wanted to maintain a patchwork feel to the blanket without going overboard. What do you think? I am hoping I will sell a few this year.

My little boy snuggled up all last night

Good morning all, its finished and has already found a home on my little boy's bed. The quilt will rotate between all of my children on a monthly basis as they all love it. But first tester gave it the thumbs up. I am soo please with the outcome. I did wonder if it would get finished at all what with the postage problems and my ever increasing sewing order list.

So whats next?, well I have some new ideas in the pipeline and one ready for display. Welcome the Made by Mum Bandana bib. Made with my gorgeous patented bamboo and super stylish designer cottons. I have been asked about bandana bibs for a while so here they are . I have an order going out shortly but if you want one for yourself please email me and I will get onto it straight away.

Happy Thursday.

Nearly There

Hello all, my shoulders and back are feeling all the quilting I have been doing the last few days. Quilts are heavy and difficult to move around. Well the enormous amount of fabric that goes into each one ( this one has around 10M) plus wadding all adds up. Now you know why quilts are soo expensive ( proper handmade ones that is with top quality fabric and wadding that should last a life time) . I just have the binding to do, my favourite, at lease 4-5 hrs of hand sewing. Will get pictures up as soon as I can.

How should I quilt it?

Good morning all, after a few weeks lost in the post I received my wadding for my cat in the hat quilt I was beginning to think It would never be complete, so this weekend I want to quilt. I just can't make my mind up on what to do with it. In the running is an all over meander or an all over geometric straight line. What do you think would work?

Dr Seuss Party Favours

Hi all I had a lovely little custom order this week from a lady who is organising a Dr Seuss Party she wanted a more unique party favour to give at the end of the gathering and so asked if I could make up a selection of bamboo washcloths. The washcloths are going to be accompanied by some handmade green eggs and ham soap. I love the idea of giving something other than sweets and cheap toys. Then low and behold I had another request for another party but this time for some fabric bookmarks. Again what a lovely idea. What do you give at the end of parties?

Happy Friday.

P.S only another 28 bookmarks to make.

Another Finish

Good Morning all what have you all been up to? I have been inundated with requests and I hope that I will be able to share some details with you soon. But for now I thought I would show you another little finish. The photo doesn't show them too well but if you look carefully at the pockets you will see some lovely folded detail. All in all I am happy there are a few things I would like to do better next time ( my younger daughter wants one too ) so I am sure I will get some more practice. Happy Wednesday and drop me a line with your latest finish.

Sewing for Older Girls

Hi all after the success of the duffle coat I am on a bit of a high so decided to crack on with some more sewing projects for my kiddywinks, The next on the list is this little denim skirt is doesn't look like much but be patient. I am contemplating which buttons I will use, maybe mother of pearl. The reason I chose this skirt is that my eldest is a bit or a jeans and jogging suit girl but she has a little event coming up so I thought this would be an easy transaction for her . I have found that as my children get older I become more dissatisfied with the shop bought clothes on offer, especially for girls, what is wrong with children being children and dressing as such. I love them to look up to date so I hope the skirt is hip enough. Oh how old I sound.

Result !!

Well here is the finished coat. I just love it and can't wait to make another one, I will have to think up a new colour combination. I think that this has been one of the most satisfying personal projects and well worth the time. I added a hanging loop just to finnish it off. Now all I need to do is wait till nursery ends for the day to see my little monkey's face, can't wait.

Sneaky Peek

Remember I said I some personnel sewing I was itching to be getting on with well I thought I would give you a little sneak peek of something I have been working on in between my orders. Its a duffle coat for my sweet little monkey. I bought the navy wool last summer but just never got round to it but was determined to have a go so I have been doing a little bit at a time and I think its coming together really well. The lining for the coat you can see in the hood, I let monkey choose and I just love the red navy contrast. Cross fingers I will get it finished in the next few days.
Happy Tuesday.

Little Extra's

Hello to you all sorry for my absence the last few days I have been rushed off my feet with back to school routines, workmen and lots of baby gift orders. My house is full of pink and blue tissue paper and ribbons and lots of gorgeously cute packages ready to be posted the length and breadth of the country as well as a couple going further a field. The New Year has certainly seen many new arrivals.
I have been adding a little something to each parcel, I love doing this I think it makes them so much more personalised. I wanted to extend this to all my blog readers too. So if you place an order before Valentines day I will add one of my little stuffed hearts to your order as a little extra. I have limited numbers as usual so don't leave things to the last minute. Just email me.

Happy Sunday

Back into the swing of Things

I haven't really stopped for long over the holidays I have been trying to do a little sewing for myself and also getting a start on some big orders. So I don't think it will be too bad getting back in the swing of things. I think February will be hard just because I haven't had a proper break. So today i thought I would share with you a couple of pictures from last nights sewing. My bamboo washcloths have taken off in a big way so I have been working on a large order in between sledging, cooking, baking and constant tidying . I am constantly astonished at the mess 4 children can make when you leave the room for a minute I think they treat it like a military operation each having their own area to mess.
Happy Sunday and another big thanks to all who have ordered from my sale items I will get your orders posted this week coming. Remember the sale ends on the 4th don't miss out, I have chef sets down from £25 to £15, Fabric Baskets down from £18 to £10 and back packs down from £40 to £22. email me for details.
