Closing Shop

good evening everyone hasn't the weather been gorgeous. We cooked over the weekend first at Blackford Highland Games and then at Atholl Highland Games. Can you tell my girls are highland dancers? The business of the weekend has put my mind to thinking and I wanted to share with you all that I think I will be putting my online shop on holiday mode over the summer. That is unless I suddenly awaken to a small army of helpers. Not likely, Made by Mum is certainly a one woman show. So please bare that in mind. I will keep you all up to date as and when I close up. Happy Monday to you all.

School Dress

Hi all what have you all been up to. I have been enjoying this wonderful sunshine for the last few days. After all the rain we had at the beginning of the month and in April I am soaking as much of it up as possible. Although I was getting very weary of the rain it did give me an excuse to not finish my daughters dress. I started to cut this one out several weeks ago but I think the combination of late night sewing and doing it in between other projects caused no end of problems all my own fault I should add. I put the yoke on back to front, stitched seams where there shouldn't be any and so on. I didn't enjoy making it one bit but I did remind myself that I shouldn't bite off more than I can chew and worked my way through each stage a little more cautiously. In the end I did finish and my daughter wore it for school today, this caused quite a bit of interest from the other girls (generally school dresses are purchased from the high street) but a number of her teachers made some positive comments which was lovely. The colours were chosen from our schools tie. The cotton is so cooling and with no exposed seams ( I did some french seams) it really does look and feel lovely. So guess what I have cut out today? Another one she will need a change after all. Ha Ha

A Little Catch Up

This week has been all about catching up. Catching up on the washing, ironing, homework, orders and everything else in between. My days are stretching out longer and longer just as the daylight extends I walk Sammy much earlier each morning so that I can get a bit more done and then wait up just a little later to finish something off. I think the phrase is burning the candle at both ends. I have been pondering a personal gift for my boy's teacher. Both my little boys have additional needs and they have the most wonderful Special teacher at school who has helped them in all aspects of school life. This lovely lady retires on Friday we will miss her very much so I wanted to make something just for her. Nothing over the top its just not her style. I hope she likes it. Now back to catching up I am way behind.

Craft Fair Sewing

I have been sewing and sewing and sewing this week as I have a stall booked at the crieff tourist information centre for the 8 day craft fair. Just when I think I am getting on top of my stock I have been getting shop orders which have to be made up mostly for bibs this week. I am not complaining. The zipper pouches are a good example I cut 10 purses and 10 pencil cases out on Monday and as I have been making them up they have been selling so now I only have 7 purses and 6 pencil cases. Do you think that will be enough? They are sweet I love them all. I have also been making crayon wallets, art wallets, pencil rolls, bibs and dribble bibs, burp cloths, fabric book covers and more little messenger bags. I do hope I haven't forgotten anything although I always want to sew more that I have time available. Wish me luck this is a new fair to me so I hope all the late nights will be worth it.
If you see anything that you would like to reserve before I go on Friday to set up please shout out. Happy Bank holiday weekend everyone.
